Being Dad-It Isn’t Easy and There Are No Instruction Manuals

Submitted by Victoria Arya on May 31, 2009 – 7:56 am2 Comments

In this day and age dads are expected to be an active member of their children’s lives from conception to forever, and they are suppose to be good role models…they are expected to do pretty much everything…and do it well.  But…babies don’t come with instruction manuals, and dads don’t get a book called “How to Be a Good Dad” when baby makes its’ appearance into the world.  So, what is a guy to do?  Well, they are going to check out the DVD called “Being Dad“.  I am sure you can understand right from the title that this DVD is geared toward dads-to-be who need a little help and encouragement.

So, what exactly are the Being Dad DVDs?  The first DVD (called Being Dad) are the real thoughts, ideas, concerns and feelings of real, everyday guys about everything pregnancy and newborn related.  Basically it’s like talking with the dudes about everything you could ever want or need to know…and it gives guys a really good prep course in how to deal with wacky pregnant women.  (Note to dads-to-be: you can also learn from my hubby’s mistakes…don’t EVER ask a pregnant woman is she “should really eat that…” or say “think about the calories” unless you want to get screamed at, cried at, or sat upon and squashed.)

The second DVD in this collection, aptly called Being Dad 2, shares more real life guy stories, concerns and excitement at how they have become active and involved in their children’s lives.  This DVD covers topics that new dads need to know about…like sleep deprivation (yes it ends…sometime in the next 18 years), how to build a routine that works for your family (it’s possible and needed!), and more.

So what do I think of these two DVD’s?  I think they are a great gift for any expectant dad…and I think that they can also help the pregnant women out too.  There were a great many times when I while pregnant,  have looked at my husband after he has said something totally weird, annoying or just plain wrong (to my pregnant mind) and wondered what the H he is thinking in that brain of his.  These Being Dad DVDs can answer those questions for women.

Stay Tuned: You will have the chance to win the Being Dad DVD Set!

Tricia – thats the awesome thing about this DVD. Its totally not what he is expecting. The trick is to force him to start watching this DVD… before he knows it he’ll be learning and not even knowing it. Promise! I did!
