Entertaining This Holiday Season? Check Out This Ultimate Party Meatball Recipe

Submitted by Victoria Arya on December 14, 2009 – 8:34 pm3 Comments

I am not a cook…nor do I really entertain…I lead a really boring life.  But, I appreciate the easy things in life (especially if they taste good) and I am always willing to give a new (easy) recipe a try.  So, here come’s the Ultimate Party Meatball recipe.

I was invited by Mom Central to be part of the Ultimate Party Meatball blog tour and was provided with a can of Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce and a bottle of Heinz Chili Sauce plus a recipe card.  Since I didn’t want to make the meatballs for just my famil, I waited until Thanksgiving to go ahead and give them a try.  This recipe is simple:

* One can of Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce

* One bottle of Heinz Chili Sauce

* 2lbs of pre-made meatballs

You put everything together on the stove and simmer for about 20 minutes or so; you can also do the slow cooker route.  Here’s my confession, even though this was a SIMPLE recipe…my hubby and aunt took point on it for some reason; I think they might not trust me LOL.  What was the overall consensus about the taste?

My hubby and I along with my Aunt Kay thought they were ok.  There is no hugely defining flavor; they are like a sweet and sour meatball.  So, we three thought they were decent and good party food since they weren’t overwhelming with flavors.  My Aunt JB and grandmother proved themselves to be NOT gourmet when they tried them and when “WOW these are great!”.  Apparently it doesn’t take much to make them happy.

Overall we all thought that the meatballs were tasty and a good addition to any holiday party; they are simple and basic party food which everyone will be able to enjoy regardless whether they like fancy food or down home food.  You can find more party recipes and entertaining tips at the Ultimate Party Meatball website created by Heinz and Ocean Spray.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Heinz and Ocean Spray and received the ingredients necessary to facilitate my review. In addition, Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

    Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have to say that it sounds like something even I can make. I’m not the best cook and I hate spending time in the kitchen (maybe that’s why I’m not so good) however we do have to make a dish for holiday parties and this may be one I could try.

    Thanks for sharing. I always have a problem making sauce for meatballs, spaghetti sauce seems too boring, but I haven’t had much success trying cream sauces. This might be just what I need.

    I love serving meatballs as appetizers but I have never added cranberry sauce to them. To me it doesn’t seem to go together. I like to add a packet of brown gravy and a cup of sour cream. Thank-you for your great opinion!
