Kushies Swaddle Wrap-Luxe Comfort for Your Newborn

Submitted by Victoria Arya on November 6, 2009 – 11:13 pm2 Comments

There is nothing better to help a newborn sleep than a full tummy, clean diaper and super comfortable swaddle.  Now with Emmy I tend to use blankets to swaddle her during the day, that way I can make them tighter or looser depending on how she is acting and if she is awake or not…but at night I like to use a swaddle wrap.  Why?  Well because I find wraps are a lot easier to handle getting on and taking off late at night when I can barely hold my eyes open and when I feel like I am trudging through Jello just to wake up enough to feed and change the baby.  So, this means that I have come in contact with a lot of swaddle wraps, and while none of them have ever made it to my “bad and useless” list, I haven’t ever found one that jumped out at me and made me think “this is a total must have…it’s neat”.  Well, I hadn’t run into a swaddle wrap that made me get excited…until now.emmy-asleep1

Alright so what did I find this time?  The Swaddle Wrap from Kushies.  Now, I know most of y’all are like “why in the heck are you getting all excited about a swaddle wrap…it’s just a swaddle wrap right?”  WRONG.  Like most swaddle wraps the Kushies wrap is the same basic design: punch for the feet at the bottom and wings that have a velcro like closure that keep the hands and arms tightly against the body.  So, while the design is basically similar to other swaddle wraps, how the wrap feels is where the Kushies wrap differs dramatically.  The outside feels like microfiber(it’s polyester) and it has a neat abstract design on it; you can choose to get a pink wrap, blue wrap or grey wrap.  The best part of this swaddle wrap is the inside, which is fully lined with a soft, thick, pseudo-fur material; it is super soft, super comfortable and very very luxe…exactly what my newest little princess needs.

Now, the very night I got home from the hospital I pulled out the Kushies swaddle wrap and I wrapped Emmy up snug as a bug in a rug.  She was comfortable and warm, and I didn’t have to worry about whether or not the house was just a bit too chilly for her.  We have used it every night since then and I have to say that I really like this product, it’s comfortable, easy to use, andit helps Emmy sleep better which is always important for a newborn.  While this swaddle is more expensive than some others on the market ($29.99) I think it is definitely worth it…it would be a great baby shower present for a first time mom or for a mom expecting her 2nd, 3rd or 12th baby!  The size for the Kushies swaddle is 0-3 months, and my only wish is that they make one that goes into a bigger size for older babies or for newborns who grow pretty fast.
