Post Cereal Honey Nut Shredded Wheat-A Healthy Breakfast, Snack, or Dinner
I happen to think cereal is a staple breakfast food…well at least the non-sugary kind, and I am always on the lookout for tasty kinds that are pretty healthy. I was recently given the opportunity to try out Post Cereal’s Honey Nut Shredded Wheat, a cereal which I haven’t run into or tried before. Now, I have to say that I do happen to be a fan of Shredded Wheat, but I usually buy the frosted kind, so I guess that wouldn’t be considered healthy LOL.
So, being the incredibly through reviewer that I am…I decided I needed to immediately review the cereal when I got it…so I had a bowl for dinner. First off, this cereal has a good flavor…it’s less sweet that frosted shredded wheat, but it still has a sweetness to it. Instead of being sugary, the sweetness had more of a honey-like flavor…which makes
sense since it is made out of honey. Now, one of my biggest annoyances with shredded wheat cereal is the fact that I basically have to gobble it down in order to eat it while it still has a nice crunch to it. I think that has something to do with the tightness of the ”weave” of the cereal pieces. Apparently the Post cereal must have a tight weave because it stayed crunchy long enough for me to actually enjoy eating it and the flavor before it turned into cereal mush. The final thing I really think about when eating cereal is the left over milk. Now, this may sound a bit weird and maybe it is, but I usually have a good amount of ”cereal milk” left over, and since I like to drink it, it has to have a good taste. So, the final test came when I got to the “cereal milk” and gave it a try…and baby it was goo; sweet but not too sweet, and it didn’t have a lot of leftover cereal floaties in it.
So, what do I think of Post Honey Nut Shredded Wheat? I got it yesterday…and I have enough for one more bowl tomorrow morning. So yes, I like it…it’s tastey, the kids like it which is good since I don’t believe in letting them eat the more sugary cereals like Count Choco or Fruit Loops. And it is healthier than most cereals and taster than many of the other “healthy” cereals that taste like you are eating cardboard.




























This is seriously one of my favorite breakfast cereals. It tastes good and it sticks with you for awhile.
