Spring Cleaning With the Hoover SpinScrub Floormate

Submitted by Victoria Arya on April 7, 2009 – 7:42 am1,644 Comments

It’s Spring and with Spring comes Spring Cleaning

I am not the biggest on cleaning, in fact many in my family(including myhoover1 hubby) have called me a “slob” or “messy” and more! And while I am not a dirty person, I would much rather be doing something fun rather than cleaning…and unlike some of you weirdos people I don’t happen to think cleaning is FUN. So, when I do have to clean, I tend to lean towards the products that are multifunctional and easy to use.

I have hardwood floors on the main floor, and then linoleum in the kitchen, which means that when we want to get the floors clean we have to vacuum (with a vacuum that doesn’t work on hard surfaces) and then we have to mop. So, it takes a good deal of time. I ran across a product that I thought could help with cleaning my hard surfaces, and I am so excited I got to review it. So, what is this cleaning product that I was drawn to? The Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub Wide Path.

So what about this product is different? Well, this product is a 3 in 1. What does that mean? The FloorMate vacuums, washes and dries hard surfaces; which means you don’t need to vacuum, then mop and then stay off the floor until it dries. So when it came (in a huge box), it was in pieces, which of course made me wonder if I was even going to be able to put it together. hoover21But, it was really easy to put together and took about 3 minutes. It even came with two bottles of floor cleaning concentrate: one for tile and one for other types of floors.

So, enough with the boring stuff, how did it work? The FloorMate is really easy to fill and get started, once it got started we went to work. The vacuum worked well and got up the random bits and pieces of dirt, then once you are ready to use the water cleaning feature, you press a button and the “mop” feature starts. When I started the water was clear, after “mopping” part of my floor the water was blackish, so it really was getting up dirt and whatever else. What I really liked was the fact that the FloorMate also sucked up the dirty water and left the floor pretty dry, and with little kids running and crawling around that is a great feature. One of the things that I do wish was different with the FloorMate is the fact that you can’t really press down and scrub like a mop, if there is a spot of dried food or something like that you have to run the FloorMate over it a couple of times in order for it to fully come up.

So overall what do I think? I think the Hoover FloorMate SpinScrubis a nifty product, I love the fact that it is a three in one and the fact that it is really easy to set up and use. It is also not a heavy product, unlike a lot of other floor cleaners out there. I would recommend this product to people who live in houses with a lot of hard floors (tile, linoleum, hardwood, etc)…but if you live in a house with a lot of carpets you might want to check out one of Hoover’s Carpet Cleaners instead.
