Tales From Labor and Delivery-It’s Monday Oct. 26th 2009 and I am Having a Baby

They Either Love Me or Hate Me

7:40 AM

So, I am the type of patient that nurses either like or hate.  Why?  Because I am so totally laid back that I really appear that I don’t care what is going on.   Oh well.  Right now they are asking all the regular questions and I get “you are toooo easy”.  Oppps, let me try and manufacture something so that I can make life a little less boring…ummm I wear contacts and have a thing for chocolate.  I got two nurses today (apparently I am special) and they are going to be bored out of their skulls while watching over me…heck I wouldn’t even let them get me some juice or ice because hubby needs some kind of job while he is here (aside from hunting down a Twix if I feel the need).  I also have a confession…I refused to put the puke green/pee yellow hospital gown and have on a sweatshirt and *gasp* a pair on undies…there is no way I am going comando this early, even if I did manage to shave…carefully, very very carefully.

Hi Y’all!

Tell Me Again Why The IV Goes In My Hand?

9:06 AM

D*mn that hurt.  I got a newbie nurse and she was wiggling the IV line all over.  Contractions are a whole different pain than needles.  Apparently I got a 2 nurse team because one is showing the other the ropes…great.  One the other hand the doctor was later than even I predicted.

I’m Bored

10:27 AM

I am officially bored…even with my computer.  I don’t feel much like trying to do some work even though I need to line up some giveaways for y’all for the end of November.  But nahh.  I’ve tried the crossword…but yeah ummm that took too much brainpower.  I tried a nap, which worked for about 45 minutes until I heard hubby talking to MIL in the hall…I can sleep through everyone but him talking @@  So, now I really want them to just jack up the pitocin so we can get this party started!

And We Have a Screamer…PS I Am Hungry

11:44 AM

Someone in the ward is a screamer.  Poor girl.  But I have to say that her “Owww it hurts” is kind of unoriginal.  Let’s hear some originality…or at least prove that you are related to a trucker or a sailor LOL.  And I am hungry…as in I want a full on meal..hamburger and fries please.  This is the last day that I will have the excuse of  “I’m Pregnant” to eat what I want…after today I need to think about what I eat and losing the crap load of weight that I gained even when I said I wouldn’t @@  So…hubby might be making a trip downstairs where they hopefuly have some unhealthy food.  But, I don’t think they have McFlurries…more’s the pity :-p

No Hamburger For Me…PS Hurry Up Baby

1:40 PM

They said no to a hamburger so I got a turkey sandwich…I can deal since it hit the spot.  This is going slow…I just want to reach over and jack up the pitocin.  The whole calm before the storm just isn’t my thing.  I can also feel all the saline migrating to my feet and blowing them up like ballons.  Well…I can feel this one.

So, I still haven’t decided about the epi or not…my doctor told them that I can have whatever I want whenever I want which is nice LOL…so either I tell them to Drug Me Up Baby or not.

P.S. Our Cleveland CLinic hospitals replaces all the vending machines with health food.. no soda, chips, or chocolate before or after the cafeteria closes.. bummer! We also had no WiFi!

Hey Victoria, you sound bored, so I thought I’d say hi from Vancouver. when I had my most recent baby I had pizza with my family in the middle of labour. I figured it would be the last “good” meal I’d have for a while. So I hope you made someone run out and get you what you want – like that M&M McFlurry. Mmm… it’s only 9 AM, but I could go for one of those… and I’m not pregnant! So Maybe I won’t. Anyhow, all the best today!

  • Jess says:

OMGosh I get the same thing! Luckily my nurse with my last baby demanded she got me everyday because I was so easy lol I hate the ones that bug you constantly or freak that u want to shower & its only been a few hours since surgery ummm ya I want out of this bed & cleaned thank you very much!

Now that I’m half way through this pregnancy I’m not looking forward to nurses with attitude.

You look awesome & go you for wearing your own clothes!
